Antonio Politano is a journalist and photographer specialized in travel reportage. As freelance he contributes to several Italian magazines and newspapers, in particular La Repubblica, L'Espresso and National Geographic Italy. After graduating in Political Sciences, he started writing about Africa and travelling beyond Europe, being particularly attracted by far away destinations. He then travelled through all the continents (except Arctic) and lived three years in Western Africa working for the United Nations. But preferring the freelance freedom to the international officer career, eventually he went back to writing and photographing. He has travelled to various parts of the world (among which India, South America, Antarctica, South Pacific, Australia, Eastern Mediterranean) in order to deepen some journalistic and photographic subjects. He is the author of the Agenda del viaggio (Travel Diary) and of I colori della luce (The Colours of the Light). He is the editor of Sguardi (Looks), a photography and travel online magazine. One of his pictures has won the Nature category of the Italian section of the Fujifilm European Press Photo Awards 2004 (Eppa). His pictures have been exhibited in Milan, Rome, Brescia, Genoa, Tokyo. He is also the author of some tv documentaries and has collaborated with several tour operators, as tour leader and for the production of informative material. He lives in Rome with Loretta and Alice and Federico.
