 Roma, Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Spazio Fontana, dal 25 settembre al 26 ottobre 2008: mostra fotografica (a cura di Gianni Galassi), 120 immagini a colori di oggi accompagnate da 30 immagini d’epoca in bianco e nero tratte dall’archivio della Società Geografica Italiana. Un viaggio in Australia, lungo l’asse nord-sud da Darwin ad Alice Springs fino a Uluru Ayer’s Rock, in occasione del ventesimo anniversario della pubblicazione de "Le Vie dei Canti" (Adelphi, 1988), il maggiore tra i libri di Chatwin, un'indagine-itinerario tra romanzo, diario e saggio. Un reportage, immagini e testi. Storie, incontri, testimonianze, ritratti, paesaggi. Un attraversamento dei luoghi, un accostamento alla cultura aborigena e bianca, con in mano il libro di Chatwin e due sue biografie. L’outback, le highway, il tropico, le piste nel deserto, le comunità di Utopia e Papunya dove è nata l’arte aborigena. E oltre, verso sud, fino ad Adelaide. Take a walk on the wild side: 15 foto di natura pura, senza la presenza o l’intervento dell’uomo. Uccelli, gorilla, iceberg, cieli, pipistrelli, delfini, giungle, tartarughe, cigni, giraffe, pinguini, deserti, laghi, montagne, alberi. Ma anche mondi in pericolo a causa di test nucleari, effetto serra, surriscaldamento del pianeta, bracconaggio, pressione umana.
