Nell’ambito della 1a edizione del Festival della Letteratura di Viaggio di Roma, mostra fotografica (a cura di Gianni Galassi): A.bc - In Australia sulle tracce di Bruce Chatwin, 20 anni dopo Le Vie dei Canti. Roma, Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Spazio Fontana, dal 25 settembre al 26 ottobre 2008. 120 immagini a colori di oggi accompagnate da 30 immagini d’epoca in bianco e nero tratte dall’archivio della Società Geografica Italiana. Un viaggio in Australia, lungo l’asse nord-sud da Darwin ad Alice Springs fino a Uluru Ayer’s Rock, in occasione del ventesimo anniversario della pubblicazione de "Le Vie dei Canti" (Adelphi, 1988), il maggiore tra i libri di Chatwin, un'indagine-itinerario tra romanzo, diario e saggio. Un reportage, immagini e testi. Storie, incontri, testimonianze, ritratti, paesaggi. Un attraversamento dei luoghi, un accostamento alla cultura aborigena e bianca, con in mano il libro di Chatwin e due sue biografie. L’outback, le highway, il tropico, le piste nel deserto, le comunità di Utopia e Papunya dove è nata l’arte aborigena. E oltre, verso sud, fino ad Adelaide.     In the first edition of the Festival della Letteratura di Viaggio of Rome, photographic exhibition (curated by Gianni Galassi): A.bc – In Australia in Bruce Chatwin’s footsteps, 20 years after The Songlines. Rome, Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Spazio Fontana, from 25 September to 26 October 2008. 120 colour pictures of today together with 30 black and white pictures of the past from the Italian Geographical Society archive. A journey through Australia along the North-South axis from Darwin to Alice Springs, up to Uluru Ayer’s Rock, on the 20th anniversary of the publication of The Songlines (Adelphi, 1988), Chatwin’s most popular book, a survey-itinerary, partly a novel, partly a diary and essay. A reportage, pictures and texts. Stories, chance encounters, portraits, landscapes. Going through places, trying to get in touch with the Aboriginal and white cultures with Chatwin’s book and (two) biographies in our hands. The outback, the highways, the tropic, the desert tracks, the communities of Utopia and Papunya where Aboriginal art was born. And further south, down to Adelaide.
